Squire Sanders has hired an investment funds partner in Sydney.

Michelle Segaert was previously a partner with Sparke Helmore. She advises on the establishment, management and operations of onshore and offshore funds and investment vehicles. She also advises on financial services regulation and other corporate transactions, including initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and restructurings.

Segaert had been with Sparke Helmore for just under two years. Before that, she was a senior associate at HWL Ebsworth. She was also previously general counsel of Australian investment bank Carnegie Wylie, which was bought by Lazard Ltd. in 2007, and senior corporate counsel at the now defunct financial services company Allco Financial Group Ltd.

She began her career at the former Mallesons Stephen Jaques and also worked for Linklaters in London.

The addition of Segaert brings Squire Sanders’ Sydney office headcount to 71 lawyers, including five partners.* The Cleveland-founded firm has 1,300 lawyers in 39 offices worldwide.
