On May 28, 2012, Dewey & LeBoeufthe twenty-eighth highest-grossing law firm on this years Am Law 100 surveyended weeks of speculation about how its demise would officially play out by filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The filing brought a measure of closure to what had been several months of chaos at Dewey, marked most notably by the endless stream of defections that decimated a partnership that numbered roughly 300 when the year began.
