Cooley has announced a merger with Dow Lohnes, a former Am Law 200 firm known for its telecommunications regulatory expertise that has fallen on hard times in recent years. Dow Lohnes's main office in Washington, D.C., will be folded into Cooley, while the former's 15-lawyer Atlanta office, which has been hit hard by the loss of key client Cox Enterprises, will not be part of the merger. The combined 750-lawyer firm will go live under the Cooley name on January 1, 2014.
