Five Am Law 100 Firms Aid Bid to Create $60 Billion Conglomerate

Cleary, Cravath, Latham, Wachtell, and Weil are advising on a $9 billion deal that will see Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold acquire oil and gas companies Plains Exploration and Production and McMoRan Exploration Company. The proposed transaction would create a natural resources conglomerate worth an estimated $60 billion, including debt.
