Already Clearwire Corporation's largest shareholder, Sprint Nextel has agreed to take a controlling interest in the wireless network operator by paying roughly $100 million to acquire the Clearwire stake now held by company founder Craig McCaw's Eagle River Holdings. The deal comes on the heels of the transaction announced earlier this week that calls for Japan's SoftBank to buy a 70 percent stake in Sprint for $20.1 billion.
