Herbert Smith Freehills has hired a partner for its disputes resolution practice in Bangkok.
Chinnawat Thongpakdee joins from local firm Weerawong, Chinnavat & Peangpanor, where he was a partner. He will advise local and international corporate clients involved in Thailand-related disputes and international arbitrations.
Thongpakdee was a partner for a year in the Bangkok office of White & Case before joining Weerawong C&P in 2010. Prior to that, he worked for three years in the Attorney General’s office. He was also a litigation partner with Baker & McKenzie in Bangkok, where he started as an associate in 2000. Before moving to private practice, he held numerous state attorney roles over the previous 14 years.
Thongpakdee is Herbert Smith Freehills’ second Bangkok-based partner, according to the firm’s website, along with managing partner Surapol Srangsomwong. The Bangkok office specializes in dispute resolution.
